There are many reasons to keep a dream journal, but as an author, I use my journal to capture my dreams that are wild and action packed. I know that these dreams could make a great story, if I put my imagination together to fill in the blanks. I don't get these dreams every night, but when I do, I want to be ready. Below is an example of two of those dreams I had last night:
Dream 1#: I was in a basement and knew that I was not suppose to look over a tall concrete wall, but I jumped to do it anyway. I heard a scuffling sound, and when I jumped high enough, a creature with black straggly hair and long nails grabbed me by the tip of my head. My body felt as if electrical bolts ran from the top of my my head to the tips of my toes. As the energy went through me, I heard one word. Mole. Dream #2: Town called Mole. Dangerous place that only a few can go to. In my dream I talked to someone who said their mom was mentally ill. She said she lived in a town called Mole.
It's not often I have a double dream, but last night I got the pleasure of the two dreams having a smilier connection. The word mole. I may never use that dream in a book, but I now have it written down in case I ever do!
